about us
When a company decides to build or renovate its spaces, the expectations are clear: a result that represents the brand, construction work that ddoesn’t drag on, an investment that stays within the planned budjet. The Stalia team works every day to turn these expectations into reality.
Stalia is an architecture and engineering firm based in Campi Bisenzio, in the Florence hinterland. A multidisciplinary team – architects, structural and MEP engineers – working in an integrated way to offer clients a complete and coherent service. We design spaces that work: aesthetically refined, technically sound, delivered on time and within the agreed cost ceiling.
Architecture, structures, building systems, construction supervision: everything managed in-house by a single team. This means one point of contact, no dispersion of responsibility across separate consultants, and a project that maintains consistency and direction from start to finish. For clients who require it, Stalia can take on the general coordination of works: identifying and selecting contractors, managing contracts and supervising the entire construction phase, relieving the client of any organisational burden or responsibility.
How we Work
Then the creative phase begins, and this is where our Architecture team expresses its most authentic nature, exchanging ideas, gathering influences and exploring directions. Those influences are wide-ranging: from contemporary European architecture – Milan, Berlin, Copenhagen – to the building traditions of the Tuscan territory. Every project receives a recognisable spatial identity. Stalia’s architects work with pencil before they work with a computer: every idea is explored in its most essential form, debated, discussed, and only then developed with the care and attention each project deserves. The layouts are studied to optimise their use; materials and finishes are selected to combine lasting durability with aesthetic refinement. The result is a space that satisfies the eye and expresses the client’s identity through architecture.
Design is carried out with economic awareness: every choice is also evaluated from a cost perspective, ensuring that the quality of the outcome does not undermine the sustainability of the investment.
Our integrated structure allows us to work with speed: all areas – architecture, structure, building systems – advance in parallel, with no waiting between one field and the next. This translates into shorter design timelines and greater responsiveness when the project evolves or requires adjustments.
We use state-of-the-art digital design tools – BIM modelling and 3D visualisations – which allow us to define every detail before construction begins. Three-dimensional visualisations are shared with the client during the design phase: a dialogue tool that allows the project to be seen, evaluated and refined before it becomes reality, ensuring the final result fully corresponds to the shared vision. This reduces unforeseen events, avoids variations during construction and protects the budget.
When the site opens, we are present. We coordinate, verify, and resolve critical issues before they turn into delays. Construction supervision is active and continuous: we monitor progress, maintain dialogue with contractors and intervene promptly to keep to the agreed programme. A site that proceeds according to schedule is the result of rigorous planning and a constant presence during the construction phase.
We also work in English and German
Stalia is able to serve international clients in their own language. Lawrence Cobuccio, co-founder of the firm, is a native English speaker; Marie-Luise M. Kriegs, co-founder, is a native German speaker. For foreign companies operating or investing in Italy, this means being able to navigate every phase of a project – from the initial consultation to handover – without language barriers and without intermediaries.
History
Stalia was founded in 2019 in Tuscany and transformed in 2022 into the company Stalia Srl, with the idea of bringing together in a single firm all the expertise required to manage a complete construction project. Over the years the team has grown and its competencies have consolidated, maintaining a results-oriented approach: quality projects, delivered on time and within budget.
